Review of Bondic, a liquid plastic welder, for Jewelry use

I was looking for a way to fuse jewelry items together with out using welding or messy work of epoxy/resin. My online search lead to this Bondic - a liquid plastic welder (http://notaglue.com/) and decided to give it a try.

From their website :

"Bondic works where glue fails and won't stick to your skin. It stays liquid until you cure it with the UV LED light and then hardens in 4 seconds"

Though FAQ on their website talks about using it for jewelry work, I confirmed with the company (through emails) that it is safe to use on jewelry - both for skin as well as for jewelry material.

One point to note is that company specifically mentions that it needs rough surface for Bondic to be more effective :-
"The rougher the surface the better! Bondic™ isn’t a glue, it has some adhesive properties but it sticks to smooth areas using a lot of surface tension rather than stickiness. If you can let the liquid Bondic™ get into cracks and crevices then it will hold incredibly well "

Here is my review of this product.

First, I tried fusing silver-filled-glue-on ear post and Swarovski no-hotfix flatback rhinestone. It was easy to put it together. However, after a day with just a slight tug rhinestone and ear post came apart. So, I can't use it for this purpose.

Second, I tried "welding" jump rings closed. This was my main reason to purchase Bondic, as an alternative to welding. I wanted to put together jump rings and then shut them closed; with welding it is normally hard to use heat around finished pieces. Well, I couldn't fuse two ends of metal, of a jump ring, using Bondic either. Just like my rhinestone testing, jump rings came apart easily (didn't have to put much force at all).

Unfortunately, Bondic doesn't work for my jewelry needs. So if anybody out there is trying to use it, just like me, I would suggest stick to old methods until something else comes up. And do let me know if you know any product that can be used for fusing metal on a finished product (like jump rings) without resorting to spend thousands of dollars.
